Abstract:

The presentation will begin with important role of mangroves in climate change mitigation. It will introduce a brief of Mangrove restoration projects in Myanmar under Verified Carbon Standard-VCS and the opportunity of sustainable financing mechanism for the community centered mangrove restoration. It will share the key requirements for the implementation of VCS projects. It will brief the major activities of mangrove VCS projects. It will also present the contribution of Mangrove Restoration VCS projects to the sustainable development goals of the United Nations. The presentation will also highlight the challenges of VCS project implementation. It will conclude with suggestion to implement VCS projects at any sectoral scope for the climate change mitigation.
