Last week, Forest Cover Monitoring by using Forest Integrity Assessment Tool (FIAT) training was conducted for three days with one-day field trip to Hlawka National Park. The tool is developed by WWF to monitor the cover of forest. WWF and RECOFTC provided for technical knowledge and MERN organized for the training. Forest Cover monitoring by using FIAT is one of the activities from Voices for Mekong Forests (V4MF).
The first two days completed with sharing knowledge each other, group discussions, presentations on process of forest monitoring at Innya Lake Hotel. On the last day of the training, all participants conducted practical exercises in the field trip.
Dr.Maung Maung Than, Country Director of RECOFTC – MCP delivered opening remark and Daw Khin Moe Kyi, training coordinator from RECOFTC presented about the brief of V4MF project. Closing was remarked by U Aung Thant Zin, CEO of MERN and added that similar trainings will be holding coming month in Kayin and Mon state.
